Heads

How is it made?

Wild Dog Works fursuit heads are made up of a bucket head, a face form made of 2-part expanding foam, and ears and cheeks made out of 1-in foam. Eyes are 3D printed resin with built-in magnets to let you customize the expression using eyelids. The mesh is dye-sublimated, making the eyes waterproof and very durable. The teeth are made out of either velvet, or can be changed to resin on request. The inside of the mouth is fleece, and the tongue is made out of minky. All heads are lined with a custom-printed sports lycra with the Wild Dog Works logo, and feature either an elastic strap across the back, or a back-entry zipper for those who need to wear glasses.

What’s the quality like?

My faces are one piece, so you don’t need to worry about the nose coming away or asymmetry in the shape. Ears and cheeks are securely glued with hot glue, as is the bucket head to the foam base.

All my heads are machine sewn, except for a seam that is left open between the face and back fur to assist with gluing and assembly. This seam is then handsewn closed. No seams are glued.

Fur seams are painstakingly picked after sewing, to remove any fur stuck inside the seam - this helps to reduce the size of the seam, and allows for a much smoother appearance. After a meticulous shave, markings are trimmed down to further sharpen the edges, ensuring a crisp, tidy finish!

The liner is created using a pattern that I made, and the nose/mouth connection is adjusted to each individual suit. This limits the possibilty of wrinkles or mismatched patterns, ensuring a smooth, neat facade, inside and out!
